The White Cube

To complement the shiny black Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, Basel architects Morger & Dettli in Vaduz built a white cube that houses masterpieces from the Hilti Art Foundation.

To complement the shiny black Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein, Basel architects Morger & Dettli in Vaduz built a white cube that houses masterpieces from the Hilti Art Foundation.

The 20-meter-high cube rests on just three supporting wall elements and is divided by four rows of windows. The light façade is made of concrete, which is made of Laaser marble and gravel from the Rhine, cast in situ and sanded into an enormous artificial stone. Accurate proportions and details together with a uniform wooden parquet in all the rooms and on the stairs create a feeling of "poetic minimalism".
